Next week the last edition of the trinity of showcases promoting the Extreme Chill Festival will take place at Platoon Kunsthalle. In particular, we’re particularly excited for the performance of Yagya – an Icelandic producer also known for being involved with Plastic, Sanasol and the Thule Musik Collective. Together with Yagya will be Runar Magnusson and  Zuurb.
I work a lot with field recordings, found and borrowed sounds from nature or the environment around me. I use these recordings both in the original form and manipulated. I create atmospheres inspired by nature, horror movies, noise and meditation.”-Runar Magnusson
If you aren’t familiar, the Extreme Chill Festival is a celebration of Icelandic electronica and has been held for the past for years in Hellissandur – a village on the Snæfellsnes peninsula. The festival creates an iconic atmosphere located beside the sea with the legendary Snæfelsjökull (glacier) adjacent to the venue. This year the festival will celebrate its five-year anniversary and the location will be moved to Berlin with artists from Iceland, Germany, the UK & Estonia. The festival will take place from July 4-6, but make sure to check the site for more updates, here.
