As the weather heats up, feelings of laziness can create a desire to wilt away in the sun or under a tree.  In the midst of summer’s warm weather, the evenings are now a perfect time for the idle soul to take get out and soak up some culture. Since it’s beginnings in 1997, Lange Nacht der Museen or the Long Night of Museums has been offering visitors a chance to explore unique cultural facets at its numerous locales throughout the city. For one night only, selected museums will offer a kind of mapped out ‘pop-up’ in which the public has the opportunity to create their own personalized journey online in the diverse districts of Berlin before venturing out into the streets. Choosing between things like a mineral bazaar, a dialogue about the collection and use of objects in science and art or watching short films about alphabet soup are mostly likely something only the Lange Nacht der Museen could offer. The decision of which senses you want to use to explore depends on the journey you choose. The night includes drawing workshops, live music and other exclusively selected exhibits by the museums’ curators. With eight hours to explore, you will have ample time to decide if you want to drink among dinosaurs at Museum für Naturkunde Berlin or use a camera to join a stop motion rally in the Berlinische Galerie. The night caters to anyone who is interested in art whether you are avid museum go-er, or a newbie, there is something to pique your interest. With plenty of time for exploration, you can truly take your time and make it a long night of fun.

The Long Night of Museums happens next Saturday August 28th 2015.
