The pairing of Erik Ripley Johnson and Sanae Yamada must have been something written in the cosmos. Since the manifestation of their project, Moon Duo, they’ve consistently maintained a pure and definite sound without hesitance. Their latest album, Shadow of the Sun, seems to be the most defined yet. Bear in mind that their sound doesn’t just come from anywhere, the combination of kraut and psych-rock could easily be tied to Erik’s previous musical endeavour – Wooden Shijps – while Moon Duo have a more melodic sound involving dynamic undertones and rhythmic density.  The resonance of Moon Duo brings you back to a simpler time with much less involvement and less distraction, inducing a slight shift in consciousness, if only momentarily. You can check out Moon Duo and Pharaoh Chromium on Tuesday, April 21st at SO36.
