This weekend in Berlin falls deeper into the studies of the secret wisdom – presented by Occulture, an esoteric conference. Occulture welcomes over 50 speakers, artists, and performers here to present us with their knowledge, research, and advice on an art that once was forgotten. Their aim to to connect and inspire the esoteric circles in Europe.
‘OCCULTURE is a gathering of magical beings, consisting of two days and three nights of lectures, workshops, rituals, and divination for practitioners, researchers and anyone interested in the open-minded, critical pursuit of illumination and the exploration of esoteric mysteries.’
Lectures from such Witches, Vala’s & Sybils: The history and practice of Trance – Prophesy in Witchcraft & Paganism, by Janet Farrar & Gavin Bone. Here, they will discuss the history of trance prophecy in ancient and modern witchcraft, ceremony from ancient shamanism, through to the Sybils of ancient Greece to the Vala of the Northern Europeans – naturally, through to the modern practice of Drawing Down the Moon.
There will also be the spiritualist revival of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Such lectures on other beliefs like the one from Dr.Dirk Schlottmann, with visual anthropological lecture on Korean Shamanism in the new millennium will be held. The lecture brings about an introduction to different ethnological theories, helping us understand the confusion between different ethnological theories, shamanism, musok, and neoshamanism. Additionally, they will also be displaying a collection of photographs allowing a rare and intimate view of the exotic.
Throughout the Occulture conference the line up shares a variety of topics within the occult – even coding the digital occult, by Stephanie Moran: The Binary (tech) Pagan and Vodun ontologies of Cyberspace. Moran’s lecture traces the double Damballa serpent of virtual reality’s twin ancestry in Paganism & Vodun, through its coding and its rituals. The lecture will take a binary approach, first looking at Marks Pesce’s ‘techno paganism’ & his development of virtual reality coding – continuing to examine the origins of cyberspace coded ontologies. Here we will be able to learn such topics rarely spoken or heard about.
Occulture does not only offer lectures, but workshops as well – one which seems particularily interesting –  Viviana Druga’s take on Tarot, as she unlocks the problematic shadows within the individual; as she states that Tarot is not about the future, but about the present with a connection to the subconscious realm. The workshop will be based on live readings from volunteers, as well interactions from the audience; suggested to come with your own questions within your subconscious, and will have a chance to gain clarity from Viviana Druga tarot de Berlin. Occulture’s line up is well researched, and beautifully curated to present Berlin with an understanding, opening of thoughts, and introduction into the world of the mystical and unknown.
There’s lots going on for people of every skill level, or if you just want to learn more about the occult.
An array of different artists will be participating to accompany the lectures, and workshops that will be offered at Occulture, an esoteric conference in Berlin at Flutgraben eV. (Am flutgraben 3, 12435.)
