There are several things that make up one’s comfort zone. These things can vary quite a bit per individual, but generally span between things that allow us to experience some type of pleasure or contentment. Whatever our vice may be, it is commonly something that creates a a certain feeling of ease; cuddling, eating, having sex,  or giving/getting affection are some common examples.  Tonight, a group of artists delve into the realm of comfort zones, examining the relation between these things and the digital age we currently live in. Analyzing the impact of the use of  the internet and the blurred lines between virtual and real life, Porn to Pizza-Domestic Clichés will include work which incorporates these hyperrealistic images and digital media associated with the two parallel worlds. Artists will mix the two mediums, to satirically accentuate the contrast between both IRL and URL. Referencing Pop Art and using imagery from cultural associations or daily life, the works will also involve exaggeration, appropration of materials and collage, kitschy elements, irony, and clichés. To celebrate the exhibition opening there is a pizza part going on – right now! This will continue for a couple of hours, and then we’ll get to see a preview of the exhibition. But that’s not all! There will be an artist’s talk on September 6th, a curator’s talk on September 18th and the exhibition itself will continue all the way until October 24th, so it gives us all lots of time to swing by.
